'Mama! She foaled this morning!'

I woke with a start to Ultan running into the main house. He was barging in our bedroom door, till Program Man sat up and gave him a glance. Ultan stepped outside, shutting the door and continuing 'I rolled over and checked the camera around 2 and Sandy seemed a bit restless, but nothing too unsettling. I noticed the clock at 4, looked at the screen and noticed Sandy laying down next to a black lump.'

I had jumped from the bed and was up and dressed, opening the door. Sandy wasn't due for another month, and it was 5 am. 'Why did you wait so long to wake me?!'

As we ran to the back stall of the mare barn, Ultan explained that he had rushed to the stall. Finding Sandy nuzzling a small fuzzy heap at her side. Searching for a pulse, Ultan found a very week one. Together he and Sandy had rubbed, nuzzled, and warmed the foal for half an hour or so. As the fillies heart rate stabilized, she began to look for her feet.

Ultan had come to find me at that time. As we returned to the stall, we found Sandy on her feet. At her side, lanky legs and all, the most beautiful little filly gazed at her new owners and the world around her.

Program Man came out to the barn to look at the new arrival. 'She's lovely, just like her mother.'

'Oh, She's Poison... a 'Lovely Poison Shenanigan.'
